The contract will see a slashing of pay of 35% as they aim to deskill work on construction sites. Part of this includes lowering the level of training for electrical apprentices from an NVQ level 3 (skilled work) to an NVQ level 2 (semi-skilled). Despite all the government rhetoric of investing in training for young people, this is the reality of what their big business chums have in store for young people, a race to the bottom in terms of training, education and pay.
